Acceptable Use Policy

What this tool is for

CraftReceipt is a receipt mockup tool. It exists because there are many honest reasons to need a receipt you can no longer get from the original printer, or a receipt that was never meant to represent a real sale. Legitimate uses include:

• Recreating your own lost records. Rebuilding the receipt for a purchase you actually made, from your own bank statement, order email, or warranty card, for your files, your accountant, or a returns conversation.
• Bookkeeping documentation. Completing your expense records for real, documented spending.
• Film, theater, and photography props. Stocking a prop wallet or a set with receipts that read correctly on camera.
• Design mockups. Illustrating an app, a marketing page, or a presentation with realistic receipt images.
• Software test data. Generating fixtures for point-of-sale systems, OCR pipelines, and expense apps.
• Education. Teaching bookkeeping, retail math, or document design with realistic examples.

What is prohibited

There is one rule underneath everything below: a generated receipt must never be presented as proof of a purchase that never happened. Concretely, you may not use the Service to:

• Commit fraud of any kind, including insurance fraud, warranty fraud, tax fraud, or expense-reimbursement fraud. Creating or using a receipt to claim money, goods, benefits, or deductions you are not owed is illegal.
• Return merchandise you did not actually buy, or obtain refunds, exchanges, or store credit based on a fabricated purchase.
• Deceive employers, businesses, platforms, or government agencies, including padding expense reports, falsifying reimbursement claims, or misrepresenting spending to an accountant or tax authority.
• Harass, defraud, or mislead individuals, for example by using a fabricated receipt in a private dispute or sale.
• Violate any applicable law or regulation, or assist anyone else in doing so.

If you are unsure whether your use crosses the line, apply this test: did the purchase really happen, and are you entitled to what the receipt would support? If either answer is no, do not use the tool for it.

Brand names and templates

Some templates are stylistic mockups inspired by the receipt formats of well-known retailers. These templates:

• Are provided for layout and styling purposes only.
• Do not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from the retailers referenced.
• Include trademarks that belong to their respective owners, who have not approved and are not connected to this Service.

A receipt made with a store-style template is still a document you authored. Presenting it as a genuine receipt issued by that store for a purchase that did not happen is prohibited, regardless of the template.

Enforcement

We may investigate suspected abuse and take action, including blocking access to the Service, removing content we control, and cancelling accounts involved in prohibited use. We may cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement and other authorities where required. Nothing in this policy limits any other remedy available to us.
